Part of the 100 Challenge, namely 9. Drive. And yes, I didn't take the definition I'm sure was planned when that list came about. I'm just chaotic like that.
This one came from an idea that the incomparable gave to me, and as soon as she suggested it, it lodged itself into the evil recesses of my head and demanded to be made. The poor cute lil fairy (especially the curled-toe socks and wings) is a major tip of the cap to , whose work is all kinds of awesome. If you don't think so, I'm afraid I'll have to kick you in the back of the head until you think otherwise. Hope ya like it, too, Snow!
The details: the car came from a source I can't find anymore (which likely means they have been brokered by Daz), and of course Bob the Retarded Basilisk is from Daz, with some tweaks to make him goofy courtesy o' me. Other artists who contributed their work to my sordid sense of statuification were Goldtassel and SWAM, Linwhite and Flirty. The characters were posed in Poser, then textured and rendered in Cinema 4D.
So who's driving? And how did our cute little fairy friend become a hood ornament? That's a story I leave to your imaginations.... although I wouldn't turn down anyone writing it.
Wow. Very cool! I knew you do this one. It demanded to be done and fate was pushing you every step of the way! She ought to been more suprised or fearful looking, I would have thought.

OMG I can just hear the wet flapping noise his tongue must be making in the wind... complete with the odd smacking noise of delight as he gets the odd bug...
*shudders*
That's our Bob!
Beautifully done! I love the whole set up and the way you've lit this and done the shaders! The petrified fairy made me laugh out loud immediately, knowing you like I do, I figured, poor little thing, wonder if Argo nailed her somehow when he was in Faery and stuck her on his car when he made it back to mortal lands? My sniggering scared my cat.
Yup, all Bob needs is some goggles and a scarf and he can look like the Dog... er Basilisk Who Wouldn't Be... (Farley Mowat reference there)
What can I say other than BOoOOoOooOoOB!

Thank you, JG! Yeah, this was one o' those that immediately started into the concept stage about the time Elle mentioned it. You know, when your eyes widen and you go, 'whooooa! I can do that, and it'll look hot!!!'
I thought about making her look a little more fearful, cuz that's sorta my trademarked thing, but a couple people mentioned that I've done so many of those that they'd like to see some other expressions once in a while. So this one had very little clue she was being targetted until she was already a hood ornament, I guess.

Like I told JG, it was just a little tweak on my part to get away from my usual facial expression on this one. You can say that she just didn't realize what was going on until it was too late.
And yeah, it would be just terrible if Bob accidentally petrified some bikini-wearing cuties when the car bypassed a beach or something, huh?

Glad ya like it, darl! I know I should be paying all my attention to Bob and the cutie chromized faerie there, but I think one of the things I really, really liked about this one was the paint-job on the car. I changed up the material from the texture the Poser artist had created for it to a shader I'd never really tried, and I think it turned out really nice!
I did like the way the lights worked out, too. C4D is a straight wonder for doing lights... I know there are systems (3DS Max, Maya, possibly even Truespace) that have better lighting systems, but I love the lights C4D does... spots, distants, tubes, omnis, areas, and negative lights, and there are so many ways to tweak each one. It's an amazing program, and I'm hoping to get the Vue plugins for it soon.
But you really can't go too wrong in a pic that has Bob in it. Especially with a formerly-moving model in there, too.
Glad ya like it!!!

EXACTLY what I was refering to on the shader. They can often leng an already wonderful render into something even more stunning- I'm new to the whole shadoer node thing myself - using poser 6 for now- I'm more into playing with skin shaders right now, but yeah, I see what you mean. I picked up on the paint job and the mirroring/ paint effect and was drooling over that for a long time (You know me and shiney things...)
And of COURSE I love it! You have a way of presenting scenes and characters that have a very special 'something'- character as well as humour. You always SEEM to casually throw something in that's exceedingly clever and always appropriate to the mood and (yes I'll use the same word) characters portrayed. Between Bob's expression and the fairy's presence... yup... that's an Argo Touch, I'm tellin ya!
HUGZ!

I absolutely love this pic for everything from the paint job of the car, the puzzled look on the faerie to the empty headed gaze of the world's most favored retarded Basilisk!
